How to Cancel SOS on a Device (Recommended Best Practice)
👉 If you are using the EVERYWHERE App paired with an inReach® device, we recommend cancelling SOS directly on the device as the most reliable method.
-
Lift the protective cap (see image).
-
Press and hold the SOS button until the device indicates cancellation.
-
A cancellation message will be sent to Garmin Response.
-
By default, Garmin Response receives the cancellation and will stop coordinating emergency services.
-
If your organization has a configured alternate responder, they will be notified instead.
-
-
Respond to the follow-up confirmation from Garmin Response to confirm you are safe.
ℹ️ Note: All inReach® devices include quick reference instructions on the back showing how to SEND or CANCEL an SOS.

If you accidentally cancel, you can reinitiate SOS immediately by pressing the button again (device) or swiping again (Safeguard App).
