Deactivating Your Device with Garmin to Move to EVERYWHERE
To use an inReach device on EVERYWHERE, you first need to deactivate its subscription with Garmin. A device can only be active on one platform at a time, so this step frees the device so we can set it up on EVERYWHERE. This is a normal part of onboarding when you transfer devices over from Garmin.
Before you start
Have these details handy. You will need them to deactivate with Garmin, and your EVERYWHERE onboarding contact will need the IMEI to activate the device on our side.
- The email address the device is activated under
- The billing address for the credit card on the Garmin account
- The IMEI number of the device
Do not factory reset the device yet. The reset happens later, after the device is set up on EVERYWHERE. Resetting too early can cause setup problems. Your EVERYWHERE setup guide will tell you when to do it.
Option 1: Deactivate online through Garmin Explore
This is the fastest way if you can log in to the Garmin account.
- Log in to the Garmin Explore website.
- Select Plans & Devices. On a mobile device, touch the two-line menu icon in the top left corner to find it.
- Select Edit under Subscription.
- Select Cancel Service. On Garmin's site, deactivating shows up as "Cancel Service," so you are in the right place.
- Review the details, then select Cancel Service to confirm.
Can't log in? Reset your password at garmin.com/account. If you still cannot get into the account, deactivate by email using Option 3 below.
Option 2: Deactivate by phone
Call inReach support at (877) 880-1335 and ask to cancel the service on the device. Have your account details ready so the team can find the subscription.
Option 3: Deactivate by email
Send a request to professional.billing@garmin.com. Include this information so the team can process it:
- The email address the device is activated under
- The billing address for the credit card on the account
- The IMEI number of the device

Once Garmin confirms the device is deactivated, let your EVERYWHERE onboarding contact know and share the device IMEI. We will activate the device on EVERYWHERE and walk you through setup using the Transferred Device Setup Tutorial.
