[Connectivity & Pairing](https://info.everywherecomms.com/knowledge/getting-started?hsLang=en#connectivity-pairing) # Bluetooth Pairing Overview ## How to Bluetooth pair your inReach device with the EVERYWHERE Companion App. Every Garmin device on the EVERYWHERE platform comes with a companion app that widens the functionality of the device. For instructions on how to download this companion app please see this [article](https://info.everywherecomms.com/knowledge/how-to-download-the-everywhere-app?hsLang=en).  **Before you start: do not use the Garmin Messenger app** An inReach device can only pair with one app at a time. The H1i Plus will ask you more than once to download the Garmin Messenger app, including with a QR code during first setup. **Do not scan the QR code and do not install Garmin Messenger.** If you do, the H1i Plus will not work with the EVERYWHERE App and platform --- ### Part 1: On the inReach | **1** | Turn on the Garmin device. If this is your first time, you will see a setup screen with a QR code for the Garmin Messenger app. **Skip this step.** Do not scan the code. | | --- | --- | | **2** | Open the apps list and hit **OK** select **Settings \> Pair \> Phone**. | ![messenger&phone](https://info.everywherecomms.com/hs-fs/hubfs/messenger%26phone.webp?width=249&height=250&name=messenger%26phone.webp) --- ### Part 2: In the EVERYWHERE App The first time you open the EVERYWHERE App, it will ask for some permissions and show a **[Configure Device](https://info.everywherecomms.com/knowledge/release-key-hub?hsLang=en)** screen. After that, tap the **Settings** gear in the top right corner. | **1** | Select **Bluetooth Pairing and Status**. | | --- | --- | | **2** | Your Device will show as **Disconnected**. Tap on it. | | **3** | A code will show on screen. | | **4** | Enter that code in the app and select **Pair**. | | **5** | You are paired.It may show the Garmin Messenger message one more time. Clear the old pairing on both sides, then start again from Part 1. **On your phone:** Open your Bluetooth settings, find the device, and select **Forget**. **On the inReach:** Open the apps list and select **Settings \> Connectivity \> Bluetooth \> Forget Phone**.
