Why Aren’t my Messages Sending?

This article explains the most common reasons your messages may not send from your Garmin inReach device or the Everywhere Companion App, and how to fix each issue. This applies to field users and admins.

Reason 1: Your device may not have a clear view of the sky

Satellite messaging needs open sky. Messages can get stuck if the device is:
  • Deep indoors
  • Under heavy tree cover
  • Inside a vehicle or building
  • In a narrow canyon or between tall structures

How to fix it:

  • Move to an open outdoor area.
  • Point the device toward the sky.
  • Try sending the message again

Note: Thick clouds or storms can also slow delivery.

Reason 2: Your device may not have synced with the network yet

New devices, recently activated devices, or devices that were off for a long time may need time to reconnect.

How to fix it:

  • Power the device on.

  • Go to the "Test Service" option in the menu, and select "Test"

  • Successful activation is confirmed when you receive a message back indicating the test was successful

  • Wait a few minutes before sending a message.

  • If "Test Service" was not successful, please contact support@everywherecomms.com
