What is "Mission Vault"?
Mission Vault is the file distribution feature inside the EVERYWHERE platform. Admins upload files through the Hub, and those files appear in the Resources tab on the EVERYWHERE Mobile App for field devices. It gives your team a reliable way to access documents, maps, and reference materials from the field without needing a separate file-sharing system.
What is Mission Vault?
Mission Vault is the file distribution feature inside the EVERYWHERE platform. Admins upload files through the Hub, and those files appear in the Resources tab on the EVERYWHERE Mobile App for field devices. It gives your team a reliable way to access documents, maps, and reference materials from the field without needing a separate file-sharing system.
How file access works
Access to files follows the team hierarchy set up in the Hub. A device sees files assigned to its own team and any team above it in the org tree. It does not see files assigned to teams below it.
Here is a quick example:
| Scenario | Does the file display on the device? |
|---|---|
| Device is on Team-A. File is assigned to the parent org (ACME) or to Team-B. | Yes |
| Device is on Team-A. File is assigned to a sub-team below Team-B (e.g., Red). | No |
A device on ACME > Team-A > Red will see files assigned to ACME, Team-B, or Red. A device that sits only on Team-B will not see files scoped to Red or any other sub-team.
The Resources tab on your device
The Resources tab is where field users manage and open their files.
- When no files are available for the device, the tab shows an empty state screen.
- Pull down on the list to refresh. This pulls in any new files and removes files that have been deleted in the Hub.
- Leaving the tab and coming back also triggers a refresh automatically.
- Refreshing and downloading both require an active data connection. Neither action works offline.
- The file list scrolls if there are more files than fit on the screen.
Reading a file cell
Each file in the list shows:
- A file type icon on the left
- The file display name on the first line
- The release date and time on the second line
- A download icon on the right, but only if the file has not been downloaded yet
Once a file is downloaded, the download icon goes away. Tapping the cell then opens the file for preview instead.
Downloading a file
Tap anywhere in the file cell to start the download. The file saves locally in the app's directory on the device. If the download fails, the app displays an error message.
You need a data connection to download. The download icon only appears on files that have not been saved to the device yet.
Previewing a file
After a file is downloaded, tapping its cell opens a preview directly on the device. If the device does not have an app that can open that file type, it will show the message: "No apps found to view this file type."
In that case, the user may need to install a compatible app or ask an admin to convert the file to a supported format before re-uploading it in the Hub.
Adding files (Hub admins)
Files are added through the Hub under the Resources section. When uploading, you select which team the file is assigned to. That assignment controls which devices in the field can see it, based on the hierarchy rules described above.
For help managing teams and team assignments in the Hub, see the Hub for Admins section of the Knowledge Base.
